Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is making tireless efforts for the development of the province and the prosperity of its people. Addressing a news conference in Lahore, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) violated Section 144 in Rawalpindi yesterday, attempting to disrupt public life. She said that strict action will be taken against those who violate the law, adding that the public has rejected the politics of anarchy and chaos. Azma Bukhari also expressed grief and sorrow over the killing of innocent laborers in Balochistan.

Pakistan Railways has achieved a significant ‘improved operation ratio’  focusing on cost cutting, out sourcing commercial operation of passenger, freight trains and capitalizing freight market. According to an official of the department, at present, Pakistan Railways is running 98 daily passenger services on different routes across the country. He said that Pakistan Railways has skewed expense as it is running 57 percent of its passenger trains under Public Service Obligation to cater the transportation need of masses of remote areas.

The government is pursuing zero tolerance policy towards smuggling, hoarding, power and gas pilferage. Measures under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, effective from September last year, have resulted in scores of arrests and recoveries of billions of rupees. During anti-smuggling operations, smuggling of overall 13,089 metric ton fertilizer and its illegal movement was foiled. Preventing the smuggling of essential items, authorities seized 35,124 metric tons of sugar and 3,552 metric tons wheat and flour.
