Attempts to smuggle foreign currency worth millions of rupees at Karachi airport failed

During another operation at Karachi Airport, Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel foiled a major money laundering attempt by recovering foreign currency worth Rs. 72 lakh from the possession of a passenger traveling from Karachi to Dubai.

According to airport sources, a passenger named Hayatullah had arrived at Jinnah International Airport from Karachi to Dubai on a foreign airline flight.

During the scan, ASF personnel found a bag of hand luggage suspicious. A search of the bag turned up 57,220 Australian dollars, 350 US dollars and 52,000 Pakistani rupees. The passenger was arrested and the currency was confiscated.

According to sources, the value of foreign currency in Pakistan is more than Rs 7.5 million.

According to the ASF spokesperson, the arrested accused has been handed over to the customs for further action including the amount recovered after preliminary investigation.

ASF personnel also recovered more than Rs 121.5 million worth of foreign currency from the possession of a Dubai-based passenger sibling from Karachi yesterday.
