On Tuesday, July 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský met with Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister Grlić Radman visited Czechia again after nearly three years.

“Croatia is our traditional partner, with trade volume exceeding one billion euros for several years in a row. Our close relationship is further strengthened by the annual visits of hundreds of thousands of Czech citizens to Croatia,” Minister Lipavský said at the beginning of the meeting. The ministers also highlighted the joint police patrols operating in Croatia during the tourist season, as well as the large Czech expatriate community in Daruvar.

Key topics of the meeting included bilateral relations, strengthening trade and investment ties, Russian aggression in Ukraine, developments in Europe with a focus on the Western Balkans region, EU enlargement, security issues, and transatlantic relations.

“I deeply appreciate the support that Croatia provides to Ukraine, which is under attack. I commend Croatia’s efforts in helping Ukraine with demining, drawing on its own past experiences,” the Czech Foreign Minister added.

In the second part of the visit, the ministers focused on energy security and the development of cultural diplomacy.
