Champion in Pakistani IT Project ICT Enabling Environment Category



Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haq has said that Pakistani IT project has been declared the champion in the category of Enabling Environment of ICT in information technology projects around the world.

He said that Pakistan and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication are not only an important honor but also an acknowledgment of our initiatives in the field of information technology globally.

In a statement, Syed Aminul Haq said that 1270 IT projects from all over the world were included in the World Information Society (WSIS) meeting under the auspices of the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which was not only in the public interest. According to the Federal Minister, the project of National Incubation Center under Ignite, an agency of the Ministry of IT, was also referred to the forum.

He said that later the International Telecommunication Union shortlisted 360 projects and opened them for voting of global IT experts in which 1.3 million experts from all over the world voted and declared 5 projects as champions. Granted, one of these 5 projects is our National Incubation Centers. This means that Pakistan is in the top 5 in providing IT-friendly environment to ongoing IT projects around the world.

According to Federal Minister for IT Syed Aminul Haq, the global appreciation of Pakistan’s IT project is a testament to the fact that the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications is moving in a positive direction under the Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan Vision. IT projects are being sent to the Communication Union in Pakistan for the last 10 years but this is the first time that a project has not only been appreciated but also included in the top 5 by declaring it a champion project.

The Federal Minister congratulated Secretary IT Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, officers and employees of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and Ignite on this global honor and said that Pakistan should be included in this difficult race of digitalization and maintain its role internationally. The role of the entire team is commendable. It may be recalled that National Incubation Centers have been set up in five major cities of Pakistan under the Ministry of IT, Ignite, where the startups are unique in the field of technology. The required resources and funds are provided to start the projects.
