KARACHI : Sindh’s budget worth Rs 14 trillion will be presented today. A special package for Karachi is expected to be announced.


Ninety Two News got the details. One hundred and five billion for police, one hundred and seventy billion for health and two hundred and fifteen billion for education have also been proposed.


Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will present the budget, the total volume will be more than 14 trillion. No new tax will be imposed in Sindh budget. Record increases in employee salaries and pensions are expected. It is learned that the budget is expected to increase the basic salary by 20% and raise the minimum wage to Rs 25,000, while a proposal to merge the ad hoc allowance is also under consideration.


In the Sindh budget, 60% of the total revenue will be estimated on the financial share received from the federation. It is proposed to set aside Rs 105 billion for police and law and order, Rs 172 billion with an increase in the budget for the health sector, Rs 215 billion for school education and Rs 25 billion for college education, while more than half of the education department’s budget Will be allocated for development expenditure.


The budget is likely to allocate Rs 119.75 billion for development and non-development expenditure of the Local Government Department and Rs 53 billion for the Sindh Irrigation Department while Rs 14 billion will be set aside for transport.


Foreign aid and loans will be taken to solve the basic problems in Karachi, which gives 70% of the country’s revenue. The World Bank will provide loans for garbage bins, garbage collection and landfill sites in Karachi. Loans will be taken from donor agencies to solve water and sewerage problems in Karachi.


The Sindh budget will allocate 55% of the budget for health, education, agriculture and public order. A special development package for Karachi and plans for Lyari are expected to be announced.
