ISLAMABAD : Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that in his own opinion, the meeting convened by the Modi government on the situation in occupied Kashmir is an extraordinary development. The behind-the-scenes meeting admits that all is not well, but the real facts and situation will come to light on the 24th.

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has made many sacrifices against terrorism, we can never support any terrorist organization or its leader. We want peace in Afghanistan. We played a conciliatory role in every forum. The solution to the Afghan problem is up to the Afghans themselves.

Talking to media after addressing a function at the National Institutes of Health, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan’s strategy was clear. We want peace in Afghanistan. I met with Afghan Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar and former Afghan Foreign Minister and Chairman of the High Level Reconciliation Council, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, to discuss the Afghan peace process.

“I saw concern and concern in his conversation,” the foreign minister said. If Afghanistan goes back to the 1990s, the pressure on Pakistan could certainly increase. I told the Afghan Foreign Minister that we are partners in peace efforts, but for partnership there must be trust. If you go to the United States and follow the tune of the past, it will not benefit you and the region.

“I met in Turkey with the foreign ministers of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait and Qatar, all talking about a political solution,” he said. Talking about the withdrawal of foreign troops, the Foreign Minister said that the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan is 60 percent complete and is still ongoing.

“We want peace in Afghanistan because our interest is linked to peace in Afghanistan,” he said. Peace in Afghanistan can fulfill our dream of developing ties and economic stability, but the Afghan problem must be solved by the Afghans themselves.

Referring to the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, the Foreign Minister said that in my own opinion, the June 24 meeting by the Modi government was considered an extraordinary development. Kashmiris have categorically rejected the Indian measures of August 5, 2019 as illegal and unilateral. Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah shared power with the Indian government but did not recognize the August 5 measures.

He said that the measures taken on August 5, 2019 damaged the secular reputation of India while the tourism and economy of Kashmir was ruined after these measures. Kashmiris are facing a double lockdown during the Corona epidemic. It is worth considering convening this meeting in the background. There is an acknowledgment in the convening of the meeting that all is not well, but the real facts and situation will come to light on the 24th, it will be too early to comment on it.
