The Taliban convened a meeting today to form a government

The Afghan government is expected to be formed today after the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan. The Taliban convened a meeting in Kabul after Friday prayers to form a government in Afghanistan. The decision of the head of government and the cabinet is likely to be taken at the meeting.


According to sources, Mullah Hebat is likely to be made the supreme leader of the Taliban government and Mullah Ghani Baradar the head of the government, while Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai is likely to be appointed as Afghanistan’s foreign minister.


Mullah Zaeef could be re-appointed ambassador to Pakistan, Zabih Mujahid and Sirajuddin Haqqani are also likely to be included in the cabinet.


The Taliban government could include other Afghan leaders, including Abdullah Abdullah, Hamid Karzai and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
