Construction of Red Line Bus Project announced in Karachi

After 15 years, progress has been made in launching a major public transport project in Karachi. The construction of the red line bus project, which has been pending for 8 years, will start in 90 days.

 

Sindh Transport Minister Owais Shah said that a red line bus project costing Rs. 78 billion is being launched. Through our efforts, the Asian Development Bank has entered into a loan agreement.

 

Awais Shah said that the red line metro would run from Model Colony, Airport, Safora Chowrangi, Meteorology, University Road to Namaish Chowrangi.

 

He said that 26 km red line BRT would have 24 stations and 213 buses.

 

The Transport Minister said that the Green Climate Fund has given a grant of 11 11 million for the Red Line Bus project. For the Red Line bus, fuel will be made from buffalo dung and in this regard a biogas plant will be set up in Buffalo Colony Karachi.

 

Owais Qadir Shah said that the share of Sindh government in the red line bus project is 75 75 million, besides the longest cycling track will be constructed in Karachi.

 

He further said that for the first time the third generation BRT system will be used in Red Line BRT.
