The future of the V4 format, the EU agenda, but also bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Hungary. These were the main topics of the meeting between the Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Macinka and the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Péter Szijjártó. Macinka received the head of Hungarian diplomacy on January 19, 2026 at the Černín Palace. The head of Hungarian diplomacy is the first foreign visitor that Petr Macinka has received in his role as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“I am very happy about today’s meeting. Our debate followed up on what we are discussing with the Hungarian side at the level of the European Patriots. We share a large number of positions. We agree on European issues, energy, ideology and security,” said the head of Czech diplomacy at a press conference after the meeting.
In addition to long-term topics of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, the ministers also addressed current issues such as the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, or the situation in Greenland. The heads of Czech and Hungarian diplomacy also discussed the area of migration and the defense and economic policies of both countries.
