Funeral prayers of Sardar Ataullah Mengal will be held in Khuzdar today

Funeral prayers of senior politician Sardar Ataullah Mengal will be offered today in Khuzdar district of Balochistan, after which the deceased will be buried in the local cemetery of Wadh.

Sardar Ataullah Mengal passed away in Karachi on Thursday. Ataullah Mengal, 92, became the first Chief Minister of Balochistan on May 1, 1972.

Sardar Ataullah Mengal was deported under General Zia-ul-Haq while he remained in jail under Ayub Khan and Bhutto. His death closed an important chapter in Balochistan politics.
