In-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, attended by the leader of the parliamentary parties

ISLAMABAD : The in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security took place. Leaders of parliamentary parties, including opposition leaders Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto, attended the meeting.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed were also present. Military officials briefed the civilian leadership on the Afghan peace process, Occupied Kashmir and the situation in the region. Prime Minister Imran Khan did not attend the meeting, Shah Mehmood represented.
In an informal conversation with reporters before the meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that first we will hear the position on the situation in Afghanistan. Then we will talk about this topic.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that there should be a national consensus on national security issues. Pakistan’s interest is before us, we will put it in front.
PML-N chief Mian Shahbaz Sharif was asked what input he would give in the National Security Committee meeting. On which he said that we will see only after the briefing.
Before the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto and Yousuf Raza Gilani, Maulana Asad Mahmood and others called on Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif. He also offered condolences to Shahbaz Sharif on the demise of his cousin Tariq Shafi.
