International Webinar: “Emerging Trends in Leisure Options during and Post COVID-19 Pandemic”

China Study Center, COMSATS University Islamabad, in collaboration with Academy of Tourism and Leisure, Department of Philosophy, Zhejiang University, and Leisure Association of Zhejiang Province, organized an International webinar on topic entitled “Emerging Trends in Leisure Options during and Post COVID 19 Pandemic”.

Rector CUI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, in his opening speech appreciated this novel idea of leisure and recreational activities during post pandemic. He thanked the Director China Cultural Center in Pakistan, Mr. Zhang Heqing, for sparing his precious time for this event. He also focused on mutual collaboration with Zhejiang University China, in future with CUI.

Mr. Zhang Heqing, Director China Cultural Center in Pakistan, who was the Chief guest of the event, thanked China Study Center, CUI, and Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, Zhejiang University China, for the joint efforts in organizing this significant webinar. He shared his three points about the influence of the Pandemic on our life such as; profound and extensive change in our life style, leisure options which have been effected dramatically by Covid-19, virus as our common enemy and our need to fight with it side by side for the final victory over it at last. He ensured the full support of Cultural office of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan in the field of culture and tourism and mutual learning among civilizations between China and Pakistan. In the end, he wished a very happy Chinese New Year and the webinar a grand success.
Diverse array of speakers comprising academicians, people from corporate side, and dignitaries from ministries of different countries shared their insight about the topic. This webinar has catered interesting topics such as leisure for disabled people, digital leisure across different countries and intellectual discourse to get some policy guidelines for the government. It provides a platform for the people across the globe with multifarious culture to adapt new and dynamic leisure options emerged and available during pandemic. In this cross culture dialogue leisure options were not only revealed globally, but also new adjusting methods were suggested for maintaining healthy and safe life. The free talk session, the gist of the event was encapsulated with different suggestions and recommendations.

Incharge China Study Center, CUI, Mr. Ali Tawab, in his concluding remarks admired the efforts of managing speakers from many fold backgrounds. His inspirational remarks were quite motivational for all the participants. Prof. Dr. Liu Huimei, Vice Dean of Academy of Tourism and leisure, Department of Philosophy Zhejiang University; Chair of Leisure Association of Zhejiang Province, on the parallel suggested to find out the new avenues for our leisure time so that we should as a human recollect what is important for our mental, psychological, physical and also an economic well-being.
