LAHORE : PML-N leader Khawaja Asif got a big relief from the Lahore High Court. The court granted bail to Khawaja Asif in the Excess Assets case.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Alia Neelam heard the case. The NAB prosecutor argued that he did not give a money trail of the money that came from the UAE and did not disclose the sources through which the money came to Pakistan. Couldn’t even figure out if they took the salary cash or through the bank?
The court ruled that documents that benefit the NAB are made part of the record. He who benefits Khawaja Asif is not made. NAB recognizes residency but not its terms. The court ruled that the NAB itself had changed its position by filing two reports. NAB officers themselves sit in offices but want people to come and give all the evidence themselves.
Khawaja Asif’s lawyer said that accommodation is available only if it is issued by a registered company. The court granted bail to Khawaja Asif on completion of lawyers’ arguments.
Khawaja Asif was arrested on December 29, 2020 while Khawaja Asif filed his bail application on March 27, 2021.
