LAHORE : Lahore’s historic Walton Airport has been closed forever. Flying clubs at the airport were instructed to ground all aircraft.

According to officials, training flights from Walton Airport are being temporarily diverted to Allama Iqbal International Airport.

On the other hand, Walton Airport was demolished and land was allotted for a flying club in Muridke. The government has purchased 525 acres of land for a flying club at Dala Wagah on Kartapur Road.

Package A for the construction of the Flying Club includes the establishment of green field infrastructure, while Package B includes the construction of a terminal and provision of air traffic control facilities.
