Minister Lipavský to Attend EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting in Brussels

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will represent Czechia at the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting on Monday, November 18, 2024. The main topics on the agenda for the foreign ministers’ discussions will include Russian aggression against Ukraine, the post-election situation in Georgia, developments in the Middle East, and an evaluation of EU-U.S. relations. At the end of the day, Minister Lipavský will deliver remarks as part of the traditional Václav Havel European Dialogues at the Prague House in Brussels.

 

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha will join the EU foreign ministers for the first agenda item via videoconference. Discussions will include, among other issues, the deployment of North Korean soldiers on the side of Russia.

 

Another key part of the program will be an informal working lunch to discuss EU-U.S. relations in the wake of the U.S. presidential elections. Later talks will focus on the situation in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.

 

In the evening, the Czech Foreign Minister will conclude his visit to Brussels at the Prague House, where he will speak on the topic of democratic resilience and civil society as part of the Václav Havel European Dialogues.
