Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will attend the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels on 20 and 21 May 2025. The main points of discussion will be the Russian war against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East region. On Wednesday, the FAC will be followed by talks between EU ministers and their colleagues from the African Union.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha will join the first item under discussion. The meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the continuation of military aid to Ukraine, and the adoption of further anti-Russian sanctions will be discussed.
The EU foreign ministers will also discuss the situation in the Middle East, particularly Israel, Palestine and Syria, including the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the lifting of sanctions against Syria.
Wednesday will belong to the EU ministry with the African Union.
