Minister Lipavský will represent the Czech Republic at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský, will attend the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels on 20 and 21 November 2025, which will be followed by the Ministerial Forum of the European Union with the Indo-Pacific countries. The main points of discussion of the ministers will be the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, the Sahel region and Sudan, and the further development of relations with the Indo-Pacific countries.

As part of the opening agenda of the FAC Council, ministers will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, further assistance to the beleaguered country, and the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha will also participate in the meeting via video conference, providing an update on the situation.

In the item dedicated to the situation in the Middle East, ministers will discuss the Gaza Peace Plan and the possible involvement of the EU in its implementation, and will also address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Sahel region has been a long-standing focus of the EU, and ministers will discuss opportunities for political cooperation, strengthening security and stability, and balancing the influence of Russia and China in this part of Africa. Ministers will also address the current situation in Sudan, where a civil war is ongoing and resulting in a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

The FAC will be followed by the 4th EU Ministerial Forum on the Indo-Pacific region, which is of strategic importance to EU countries. The forum at the level of foreign ministers will focus on security, economic resilience, investment and the transition to renewable energy.
