ISLAMABAD : An important meeting chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser has unanimously passed a resolution expressing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians. The resolution was moved by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The joint resolution called on the Security Council to take immediate action to end Israeli aggression. There is great concern about the growing Israeli barbarism against the unarmed Palestinians.
The resolution states that the House calls for a free and independent state for the Palestinians. We strongly condemn the Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
On the other hand, Pakistan and Turkey have decided to go to the United Nations against the Zionist atrocities on the Palestinian people. Pak-Turkish Foreign Ministers will raise their voice for Palestine in the United Nations.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that he will leave today to attend the UN General Assembly. Talking about the situation in Gaza in the main session of the National Assembly, he said that our first responsibility is to establish a ceasefire in Palestine. The trend on Pakistan’s historic position in the Security Council and the OIC was very clear.
The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan has condemned the aggression in Palestine. Two important meetings on Palestine were held yesterday, May 16. One was a meeting of the OIC Executive Committee on Foreign Affairs and the other was a meeting of the UN Security Council. The Security Council was chaired by the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that I pay homage to the leadership of China here. China sought to unite the Security Council. All members of the Security Council were convinced, but unfortunately the United States vetoed it.
He said that there was a promise from the House that we would never allow the issue of Palestine and Kashmir issue to come under fire. Admittedly, the path is difficult, the world has a double standard, but the truth carries great weight.
Opposition leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Israeli army has been oppressing unarmed Palestinians since 1948. Extremist Jews marched in East Jerusalem, and the whole world saw these heartbreaking scenes.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that he would not mention the government’s handcuffs and atrocities against the opposition in this House today. Because today we have to talk about the atrocities of Israel.
Shahbaz Sharif said that unarmed worshipers were attacked in Al-Aqsa Mosque in the last decade of Ramadan. Israel’s worst atrocities are in full swing. Where Hitler was in the past, Netanyahu stands today.
He said that the second generation of Palestinians is the victim of the worst oppression. Dozens of women and children were martyred in the recent aggression. Israeli bombers shelled indiscriminately. The world saw the Al Jazeera Channel building collapse in Gaza. Such brutality has never been seen before.
The opposition leader said that this is the story of the oppression that the Palestinians are enduring to this day. They trashed the Oslo Accords. Yasser Arafat, Minhan Bhigan won the Nobel Prize, but the establishment of an independent Palestine has not yet taken place. Like Kashmir, Palestinian resolutions were also rejected.
He said the massacre in Palestine was a message to the Islamic world. The tradition of his buffalo with his stick is taking root. The National Assembly today has to be the voice of the hearts of 220 million people.
He said that today every eye in the world of Islam is tearful and every heart is sad. Other countries have also condemned Israeli atrocities. The Israeli army is bombing the Nahti nation. If, God willing, an Islamic country made such a light move, would the world powers sit idly by? If any Islamic country did so, immediate war would be imposed and all kinds of sanctions would be imposed. Today the world media is silent, its language is locked.
He questioned whether the world would have remained silent if such a move had taken place in another country. Where are the world powers today? It is the fault of the Palestinians that they are Muslims.
He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important for East Timor and South Sudan. East Timor was liberated, but what happened in Bosnia?
Hundreds of people were killed in Bosnia, Shahbaz Sharif said. The conscience of the world powers was not awakened until the worst mass grave scandal in Bosnia came to light. In Bosnia, cities became cemeteries. Comparing Bosnia, East Timor and South Sudan, the situation is clear.
