New Czech Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus

Jana Hybášková will become the new head of the Czech Embassy in Nicosia. She has already received the agrément, the official approval to serve in the host country.

“I wish Jana Hybášková much success in her future role,” said Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský regarding the appointment.

Jana Hybášková began her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990. From 1991 to 1997, she headed the Department for the Middle East and North Africa, and from 1997 to 2001, she served as Ambassador to Slovenia. The following two years, she was part of the negotiation team for the Czech Republic’s EU accession. From 2002 to 2004, she served as the Czech Ambassador to Kuwait.

Between 2004 and 2009, she was a Member of the European Parliament. From 2011 to 2015, she served as the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, and from 2015 to 2019, she continued her diplomatic career as the EU Ambassador to Namibia.

In 2019, she returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, until 2022, served as the Special Representative for the Promotion of Czech Nationals in EU Institutions and International Organizations. Since 2022, she has headed the Ministry’s Personnel Department.

Jana Hybášková is expected to begin her duties in Nicosia in early 2026.
