Lahore: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) leadership and other speakers while speaking in Platinum Jubilee celebrations have vowed to continue their struggle for the freedom of speech & expression and for the rights of working journalists. The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) are underway across the country. In the first phase of these eighteen-day celebrations, fifty regional unions affiliated to PFUJ are organizing various activities in their respective cities, including rallies, cake cutting, seminars, candle vigil in memory of the martyrs and prayer ceremonies. In the second phase, PFUJ will organize seminars at the central level in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, in which leaders of national political parties, senior journalists and government officials will be invited, while a two-day meeting of the Federal Executive Council will be held in Multan later this month. In connection with the PFUJ Platinum Jubilee celebrations, regional unions in Islamabad, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sarai Alamgir, Gujranwala, Kamonki, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Chishtian, Rahim Yar Khan, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo, Daharki, Obaro, Mirpur Khas, Tando Allahyar and other cities organized cake cutting, rallies and seminars on the 75th anniversary, while fireworks were also set off to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. On this occasion, PFUJ President Rana Muhammad Azeem and Secretary general Shakeel Ahmed said in their statements that PFUJ has been struggling for the journalistic community of Pakistan since its inception and is trying to provide all possible services to working journalists, including payment of salaries, residential facilities, medical, educational and other facilities, as well as security of journalists. They paid tribute to the founders and senior leaders of PFUJ, MA Shakoor, Israr Ahmed, Minhaj Barna, Nisar Usmani, Abdul Hameed Chapra, Ahfaz-ur-Rehman, CR Shamsi and others and said that the 75-year history of PFUJ is full of struggle to solve the problems of journalists in the country and reiterated that they will continue the struggle to solve the problems of journalists through the platform of PFUJ. The PFUJ leadership said that journalists have always made sacrifices for the freedom of the press and if necessary, they will continue the same in the future. Local journalists, civil society representatives, and district administration representatives also participated in these events in large numbers. The participants raised slogans of PFUJ Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad, and PFUJ Leadership Zindabad and took out rallies with banners. A great tribute was also paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the struggle of PFUJ and while performing their journalistic duties. Candles vigils were also held in their memory, while prayer ceremonies were also organized to raise their ranks. The speakers shed light on the history, services, and role of PFUJ in the field of journalism. The speakers said that PFUJ has always spoken about freedom of the press and the rights of journalists. The participants reiterated their commitment to continue their efforts with the PFUJ leadership for freedom of speech and expression
