The 8th International Conference on Space Security, entitled “Security Aspects of the Space Economy and Capabilities: From Policy Decisions to Action”, will take place from 15 to 17 June 2025, and will be opened by Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský. The conference is organized by the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) in the Černín Palace under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský, Minister of Defense Jana Černochová, and Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.

The Eighth Prague Conference on Space Security will focus on the interconnectedness of global space security, economic and financial transactions, and effective space governance. While much is written and discussed about the growing “space economy,” very little attention is paid to the security aspects of the activities of commercial and private entities, especially authoritarian powers.

The 8th Prague Space Security Conference aims to address this shortcoming. The upcoming conference will also address a range of economic, trade and financial challenges and risks for the space economy and how to ensure a level playing field globally for the commercial use of space.

Current space threats, the consequences of Russia’s deteriorating global reputation for space, the escalating space competition between the US and China, allied military space strategies, and the role of public-private partnerships in shaping norms of responsible behavior in space will also be discussed.
