WASHINGTON : US military commander General Scott Miller has expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan, saying the Afghan people believe the Taliban will soon attack the capital.
The US commander-in-chief said the Taliban would never win a military war, adding that the use of military force in Afghanistan was not the answer.
He said the United States wanted peace and would play a role in protecting Afghan security forces from attacks. Whenever the Afghan forces need them, the US or allied forces will support them.
Gen. Scott Miller said the United States will continue to support Afghan forces despite the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan. The Taliban’s escalation of violence has made the peace process difficult.
He further said that the Taliban should stop violence, the Taliban’s occupation of various districts of Afghanistan is not acceptable to Afghan citizens and the international community.
