There is no US military or air base in Pakistan, a Foreign Office spokesman said

ISLAMABAD : Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said there was no US military or air base in Pakistan.

A Foreign Office spokesman said reports of a US military base in Pakistan were baseless, irresponsible and speculative. Air and land cooperation between Pakistan and the United States is under the framework. Pakistan-US Air and Groundline Communication Cooperation Framework has been in existence since 2001. No new agreement was reached under the cooperation framework.

The State Department spokesman added that such statements should be avoided as no proposal for a US military base in Pakistan is under consideration.
