Withdrawal of US troops confirms PM Imran’s position: Financial Times
Leading British newspaper Financial Times has said in its article that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the takeover of power by the Taliban has proved the long standing position of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding Afghanistan.
According to the Financial Times, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been criticizing the US aggression in Afghanistan for years and Imran Khan has been pushing for peace talks long before former US President Donald Trump signed the withdrawal agreement with the Taliban.
He has consistently opposed the US war on terror and its intervention in Afghanistan since 2001, arguing that Pakistan’s involvement in the war was a “big mistake” that would cost Pakistan more than 70,000 lives. That’s more than the 2,500 American soldiers who died in the war. As chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2013, Imran Khan threatened to shut down NATO supply lines after US drone strikes in Pakistan.
