US loses 20-year war in Afghanistan: General Mark Millie

The United States has officially acknowledged defeat in Afghanistan, with General Mark Millie saying the United States has lost a 20-year war in Afghanistan.

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Millie told the House Armed Services Committee that the war did not end on the terms the United States wanted with the Taliban.

Gen. Mark Millie said the defeat did not happen in the last 20 days or 20 months. The Afghan war was a strategic failure.

He said that he met Mullah Baradar in Qatar on August 15 and asked him not to obstruct the evacuation. By the meeting on August 15, Kabul was under Taliban control.
